With increasingly insipid reality shows, vapid sitcoms, sensationalized “news” and all manner of mindless garbage vying for our leisure time — and, quite possibly, our souls — the “idiot box” has spawned generations of, well, idiots. Enter Brooklyn-based trio The Wiyos. With a theatrical stage show harkening to the golden days of vaudeville, this old-timey jugband is a welcome alternative. This Saturday, put down the remote — TiVo “CSI: Miami,” if you must — get your ass off the couch, and head on down to Montpelier’s Langdon Street Café as the band makes a rare Vermont appearance, transporting listeners to a simpler time.
