With the late-2010 release of their debut record, Zeroes QC, on über-hip indie imprint Secretly Canadian, Montréal’s Suuns delivered a worthy complement to their sinister live performances. The artful electro-rock outfit thrilled audiences at last fall’s CMJ Music Marathon and drew raves from the likes of the New York Times, Pitchfork and NPR, among others. Riding into 2011 on a high note — laced with a dance-punk low end — they’ll tear up the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge this Suunday, January 23, with locals Paper Castles and DJ Disco Phantom.
