Though composed of some of the area’s most accomplished individual players — such as nationally renowned dobro and pedal steel whiz Jim Pittman — Colin McCaffrey’s (Western) swingin’ sextet The Stone Cold Roosters is no mere novelty all-star band. Their stellar 2007 debut, Out of the Woods, garnered serious local accolades from critics around the state and was widely (and rightly) hailed as one of the best records of that year. As such, their follow-up effort, due out this summer, is hotly anticipated. In the meantime, catch their rollicking blend of modern vintage twang this Saturday at Richmond’s On the Rise Bakery.
