Side Dishes: Resto Openings and Updates

Quatre, which means "four" in French, is how many times one Burlington eatery has reinvented itself since it first opened on the corner of Battery and Main, as Greenstreet's. The restaurant, which closed abruptly on April 18, is reopening with the same name, Quatre Bistro, confirms spokesperson Melissa Stuart. Leftover Food News

The eatery at Main and Battery Streets in Burlington was christened Greenstreet's Restaurant, then Quatorze Bistro, then lost 10 to become just Quatre. The last name change occurred after a New York City joint called Quatorze objected to the use of its trade name. Now you can call it . . . closed.

According to one staffer, the crew learned of the resto's demise a mere three nights in advance. "We were supposed to stay open until Saturday, but we ran out of food," the employee explained on Friday. "Tonight is our last night."... Read more

Side Dishes: Leftover Food News

Last year, when Elizabeth Manriquez — co-owner of Espresso Bueno in Barre — attended the Northeast Regional Barista Competition, the competitors barely numbered in the double digits and the vibe was pretty chill. Last weekend, when she traveled to Ithaca, New York, for this year's contest, things had changed. "There were 27 competitors. I don't even know if I would really call them peers: they were a little beyond," Manriquez says.... Read more
