The Vermont Country Store is not so much a retail experience as a trip down memory lane. The store, which takes up much of downtown Weston, sells things that nobody else does anymore: antique-style gadgets, soaps and powders that no longer appear on drugstore shelves, candies that were once sold in a glass jar for a penny or two. If you’re over 50, this will bring you back. If you’re under 50, well, you can Tweet about it.

Woodstock is a classic 18th-century New England town — minus the avaricious loggers. George Perkins Marsh, a noted naturalist and statesman, was one of the first to see the error of those ways. He set aside 500 acres of conserved forestland that is now the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. More than 20 miles of carriage roads weave through the park, making it a spectacular place for a leisurely amble.

Frog City Cheese is a family owned and operated cheese manufacturing business located at the Plymouth Cheese Factory on the President Calvin Coolidge Historic Site Cheese Factory in Plymouth Notch, Vermont. The factory and retail store are open every day from 9:30-5:00 until the end of October. Visitors can watch the cheese making process through several viewing windows. Please call ahead for days and times. Customers will also enjoy visiting our retail shop which carries a variety of Vermont-made cheeses and other specialty foods. We focus on specialty products from Vermont and New England.

The highlight of a visit to Cabot is our guided tour. View our award-winning cheese as it's being made. You'll learn a ton about cheesemaking, and Cabot's history - not to mention a bit about Vermont agriculture. Following the tour, you're invited to nibble our many varieties of cheeses, including the World's Best Cheddar and Best Flavored Cheddar.

Barre proudly calls itself “the Granite Capital of the World” — a slight exaggeration, perhaps, but not much. The city’s quarries produced the world-famous “Barre Gray” granite steps on the east side the U.S. Capitol. But gravestones are Barre’s niche. The personalized memorials the workers made for each other — and many other people — are all over the city’s most remarkable cemetery. In winter, the road to Stowe sees a lot of slope-seeking Saabs and Subarus. The summer crowd tends to be driven by ice cream: The Ben & Jerry's Factory in Waterbury is one of the top tourist destinations in Vermont. If your visitors have heard of one thing in the Green Mountain State, sadly, this is probably it. The guided tour doesn’t dwell on the company’s founding entrepreneurs — you have to search high and low for signs of Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield — but it maintains their “If it’s not fun, why do it?” philosophy.
