Ray Davies, Locksley

Thursday, December 11, 8PM at Higher Ground Ballroom in South Burlington. $45/50. AA.

Kinky

If you don’t know who Ray Davies is, stop reading this paper right now, Google “British Invasion,” and come back when you have a proper appreciation for the man. Now that we’re all on the same page, you know that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is among the most influential artists of the last half-century. In fact, without Davies, much of the current crop of indie-rock darlings, including The Shins and Spoon, among many, many others, wouldn’t exist. This Thursday, the iconic Kinks front man makes a rare Vermont appearance — one of only a handful of tour dates with his full band — in support of his recently released and critically acclaimed new album, Working Man’s Café, at the Higher Ground Ballroom. Brit-pop revivalists Locksley open the show.
