's August issue has an article about America's top-10 farmers' markets. The Union Square Greenmarket [2] in New York City, Ferry Plaza Farmers' Market [3] in San Francisco and Portland Farmers' Market [4] in Oregon made the grade. And no wonder: Their voluptuous offerings range from fresh-shucked raw oysters to orchard-ripe peaches. Another that made the list: Capital City Farmers' Market [5] in Montpelier. Yep, the market with some 40 vendors was ranked alongside the country's crème de la crème. See for yourself at 60 State Street, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. . . . A trip down Route 7 takes drivers past the burned-out shell of the Ferrisburgh Roadhouse, formerly known as Burdick's Country Kitchen, which went up in flames last week. A peek in the window revealed recognizable objects, such as a Coke machine and what seemed to be a roll of twine, amongst the charred debris. Owners Marcos and Claudia Llona plan to rebuild the establishment . . . There's a new vlog in town, but this time, the "v" doesn't stand for "video," it stands for "vegan." Or it could be for Victoria, the spunky, recently meat-free blogger who's posting her recipes at Victoria's Vegan [6] on blogspot.com. Her latest creations: sesame curry burgers and Cinco de Mayo stuffed potatoes. Sounds veggielicious . . . This Friday, the new, improved Junior's [7] will open in its $1.6 million building behind Burger King in Colchester.Links:
