Last week, Bove kept on spreading the lasagna love by preparing two different versions on the set of “The Today Show.” No word yet on when the four-minute segment will air.
Last week, the Boston Globe printed its selection of “New England’s Best Buffalo Wings.” Although most of the spots listed were in Massachusetts, Ruben James  of Burlington squeaked onto the list at number 10.
What did the rag have to say about our hometown hots? “After the venerable Carbur’s went out of business some years ago, this popular college hangout became the go-to place in the Queen City for cheap, hot wings . . .” The writer notes that the fowl is free on Friday and Saturday evenings, and that the pints of Long Trail , while not gratis, are good for mitigating the heat.
The first quarter is tough on restaurants, but great for eaters — kind of like a foodie version of the housing market. Because of the inevitable post-holiday slowdown, eateries offer some great deals.
This January, for example, the Scuffer Steak & Ale House  is catering to parents of the under-11 crowd with a special on Monday and Tuesday nights: Each table can claim a free kiddie meal for every adult meal ordered.
Vermonters got a surprise last week when Shap Smith, the newly elected Speaker of the House, moved former chairman and organic farmer David Zuckerman  (P-Chittenden 3-4) off the Agriculture Committee and onto Ways and Means. He was replaced by Carolyn Partridge (D-Windham 4).
