These are but a few of the accolades Cuban saxophonist and clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera has accrued over his long and distinguished career as one of the brightest stars in contemporary jazz. The acclaimed performer has more than 30 albums to his credit, spanning myriad styles from Latin to bebop. His latest, Funk Tango, scored a 2008 Grammy for “Best Latin Jazz Album” and was a New York Times Critic’s Choice. On Sunday, June 1, the Living Jazz Legend award-winner appears on the Flynn MainStage as part of the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival with openers The BDJF Big Band.
