Minneapolis’ P.O.S. is a man of many tastes. How else to explain touring with underground hip-hop icon Mac Lethal and punk legends Bad Brains and on the Vans Warped Tour? Or collaborating with members of such stylistically divergent acts as hip-hop collective Atmosphere, indie rockers The Hold Steady and punk veterans The Bouncing Souls? The enigmatic emcee takes influences from across the spectrum of modern music, a fact clearly reflected in his 2009 album Never Better, his most widely acclaimed record to date. This Friday he’ll be at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge with writer-turned-professor-turned rapper — and fellow Doomtree crew member — Dessa, and Seattle-based hip-hop provocateur Astronautalis.
