The Dark Knight premiered in Montpelier Saturday, days before its general release.
We have Vermont's own Dark Knight to thank for this rare event - US Senator Patrick Leahy who has a cameo in the film (watch clip [1]).
Patrick Leahy grew up in Montpelier Vermont. Blind in one eye, he
spent much of his free time reading comics at the Kellogg-Hubbard
Library [2].
Years later, he is the library's favorite Superhero, donating proceeds
from his Batman film appearances and this recent screening of The Dark Knight which garnered a lot of media attention (NY Times [3], CNN [4], etc).
Leahy sits down with the library's Comics Clubs to talk about Batman, The Dark Knight, and why he loves reading.
