Sultry and soulful, songwriter Nikka Costa infuses her funky brand of R&B with unabashed sexuality. But hers is no mere siren song. Her latest album, Pebble To a Pearl, was released on legendary soul imprint Stax Records, in conjunction with her own label, the aptly named Go Funk Yourself Records. That’s not the sort of cred one stumbles upon without having the chops to back it up.
