From Arts & Crafts, the plucky Canadian label that brought you such indie-rockin’ darlings as The Dear, The Stills, American Analog Set and roughly 732 projects related to Broken Social Scene, comes Welsh septet Los Campesinos! The band’s sophomore effort We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed, released in late 2008, has drawn raves from all of the usual hipsterly suspects — Pitchfork, The Village Voice, et al. But they’ve also recently nabbed the attention of more mainstream industry heavyweights, including Spin, Rolling Stone and, gulp, Entertainment Weekly. But don’t hold that against them. The group infuses a distinctively British Isles sneer into the electro indie-rock template that should thrill the overtly hip and hopelessly square alike.
