'Looking at Lincoln'

Abraham Lincoln is almost universally revered in our modern age. But in his day, Honest Abe was skewered in newspaper cartoons just like any politician. Billings Farm & Museum in Woodstock is showing these biting cartoons, which it says challenge viewers “to put aside 21st-century biases” and to “consider events through the eyes of those living during that era.” Visitors will also find a California printing of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Lincoln himself. The exhibit is open Saturday and Sunday, January 26 and 27. Pictured: “Columbia Demands Her Children.”
