Seven Days Says:

Veta learns an important lesson about friendship in the Little City Players' production about a man's imaginary pal, a 6-and-a-half-foot tall rabbit.

Magical Thinking

It’s not uncommon for youngsters to dream up imaginary friends, but a decidedly grown-up Elwood P. Dowd causes quite a stir when he introduces an invisible pal at a high-society party. Maybe it’s because “Harvey” is a bunny more than 6 feet in height. Such is the premise of Mary Chase’s 1944 play, produced this time by Little City Players. What sounds like a recipe for disaster is actually “a very charming story, and very lovable for all audiences,” opines producer Katelyn Ziegler. The sweet comedy of errors, directed by Melinda Umezaki, serves up several life lessons on friendship and acceptance amid silly scenes at the mental ward. If oversize rabbits (hello, Easter Bunny) are crazy, who wants to be sane?
