Having parted ways with Jay Z’s label Roc-A-Fella and subsequently threatening retirement from “the game,” Philadelphia rapper Freeway has found a new home on Rhymesayers Entertainment. Reinvigorated, he’s set to release what those in the know suggest may be his finest album to date, Diamond in the Ruff. That record, produced by Jake One and featuring Just Blaze, hasn’t dropped yet, so anxious fans will have to make do with catching him in person in the meantime. Like, this Thursday, May 26, when Freeway turns off Exit 14 on I-89 for a gig at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge with locals DJ Dakota, Colby Stiltz, AP & the Stack Boyz and 4Word Productions.
