Hi! This is pretty déclassé, I suppose, but a little trick occurred to me recently.
When looking for recipes for dinner (just for my boyfriend and I at home - nothing too fancy) I used to skip over any that included wine because I don't really drink at all and my boyfriend doesn't like wine. So I didn't want to spend money on a whole bottle of wine just to use a cup of it to deglaze a pan and then dump the rest of it down the drain.
But at the grocery and liquor stores there are now a wide variety of single serving wine bottles, or even juice box-like containers. They're called "minis". I can buy a four-pack of minis and use just one of the containers in cooking and set the rest safely aside for future use.
Are the wines great
? No, but they may not all be as bad as you think
. They're certainly good enough for our casual dinners at home. And now I don't have to skip the wine recipes any more!
