Has anyone tried this crazy recipe? It seems too crazy to be true, but I know a couple of people who swear by it.

Hi Molly, your link is broken, others should click here. I haven't tried that exact recipe, but what I do is similar. I use a can of peeled tomatoes, butter, and a few cloves of garlic. If I have it, I like to add fresh basil and oregano, too. I did this just a few nights ago when I didn't get home from work until 8 and I wanted a quick and easy dinner. Just brown the garlic in the butter, add tomatoes, stew for half and hour et voila! To be honest, I did add some agave nectar, red wine and lemon juice, but if you're feeling lazy, it's probably almost as good without!

Thanks Alice! I think I fixed it. It seems like the forum software does weird things to links sometimes. I know I checked the link when I posted it, I always 'preview'. It sometimes adds quotation marks and an extra http://.

I tried this last night and it was great! I had wanted to do strict scientific method and try just the tomatoes, butter, and onion before trying any additions or variations, but I was foiled by the onion I got which turned out to be half rotten inside. So I used the healthy half of it plus two shallots I had on hand. Since it was already modified I also added some fresh ground pepper, red pepper flakes, oregano, and some chopped up garlic and kalamata olives. Delicious!

Next time I'm going to do that most simple 3-ingredient version to see what we think.

I posit that you didn't actually do this recipe, but an entirely different one. Smiley

Well, yes. You're right.  Grin  I guess I just wanted to post something because these boards have been so dead.

I'm thinking of giving it a go when I do sauce next. Smiley  I like simple recipes!
