Has anyone tried it yet? Since it's still not officially open, we don't have it on 7 Nights yet, but I am really curious what people have to say.

I went there with a German friend of mine.  we were upstairs at the bar, which i think that they are billing as a ski chalet styled place.  I am not the hugest fan of German beer, so i thought it would be a good idea to go with someone who knew what they were talking about.  He was excited about the selection of beer, except for one choice - he was bummed that they chose to serve Beck's which was the only beer they carried that you can get pretty much anywhere else.  After he gave me a tour of the beers, we were in a happy place and wound up repeatedly trying each of the 8 options (except for Beck's).  we hope that they are able to carry schnapps there soon!
-- oh yeah, i think i like german beers now --

we had a really fun time.
the atmosphere was great.  enough light and low enough music to have good conversation and a really wide range of customers - friendly and interesting!

as for the food, we weren't there for it, although it looked really good and simple.  My friend approved of the menu, although he had some smiles at the 'vermonting' of some of his favorite German pub snacks.  one thing that we noticed and had a laugh over though was the complete lack of kraut on the menu!  we spoke to one of the owners and he said that they are planning on getting it in there soon.

they are also planning on showing all of the world's cup games!

Do they have a website with the menu online? I'm curious to go there. We used to go to the Old Heidelberg on Shelburne Road, but other than that I've only had German food in Germany (and some in England). The primary things I'm wondering are:

- if they serve my favorite, jägerschnitzel
- can you choose your side? I don't want to get stuck with disgusting kartoffelsalat (potato salad)
- are there multiple mustards available?
- can you get a take-out wurst in a roll? It's so lovely to eat one outside on a cold winter night.
- how's the spätzle?
- How are their potato things? Pancakes/fritters (reibekuchen), dumplings (klöße), mashed, etc.

I have never been more excited about summer drinking than I am to see World Cup games on the roof-deck at Das Bierhaus!

When you said that Das B. was going to have all the World Cup games playing, I got really excited and went to check out their site. The game schedule is really easy to find since it is on the front of the Das B website. I think I'll definitely have to check out the England v. USA game this Saturday (6/12) at 2pm.

There must be more places screening the games though. Does anyone know about other venues to watch the Cup?

I should offer up coming over to my house.  I have a 62 inch rear projection HDTV in my great room and a 6X13 foot pantry stocked with all sorts of food. Smiley

Whoa, your pantry is HUGE! That is really cool! I just saw your reply to my last post — were you able to watch the game on your awesome tv?

Heh, well there's the thing.  I like soccer once in a while, but I don't usually sit and watch a whole match, let alone the world cup.  I'm such a visigoth. Wink

And yeah, love my pantry!  I also have two freezers, one is 20 cubic feet, the other is 10.  So I buy in bulk a lot. Smiley

"6X13 foot pantry"

When I first read that I got a mental image of a Far Side-esque foot pantry - like a walk-in closet stocked with rows of feet instead of shoes.

I am envious of your pantry! I think that's about the same size as our whole kitchen! We live in a two bedroom apartment where we have to be very creative in squirreling away food stock. We're both a little paranoid about emergency preparedness so we like to have plenty of food, first aid, and other essentials piled up. Luckily my boyfriend is a spatial intelligence whiz and comes up with brilliant storage plans that make the most out of what little space we've got.

Why did you say you are a visigoth? Because you get restless quickly and need to move on? LOL!

Well, because I'm uncouth and uncultured when it comes to the ways of enjoying football. Smiley

I'm definitely going to have to add visigoth to my vocabulary. Great word! Hehe.

As far as sitting and enjoying football, I can't sit still either — that is why I have to go somewhere else to watch a game. At least elsewhere, I'll have other things to distract me.  Wink
