Best local sodas?

I like Waterbury's Pop soda quite a bit, but on the whole, I feel like local sodas have too strong a focus on being natural and not enough on being fun or tasty. I've had some great homemade root and birch beers and cream sodas at country stores in the absolute middle of nowhere, where they're not afraid to use normal sugar. The house sodas, from cream soda to lime rickey, at Curtis' in Putney are swell, too.
Thoughts?

Sadly I think pop soda went out of business. While not all that local Maine Roots sodas are pretty good. While they don't have the wacky flavors like Jones' they do have some good ones, like blueberry or mandarin orange. Oh yeah they are organic too.

We don't do a lot of sodas
(although i recently obtained a fun gadget which i can use to connect my CO2 tank -for brewing beer- to a regular 1 or 2 liter bottle and carbonate anything; so i think we will be drinking lots of home made bubbly pretty soon)
BUT - i will say that Rookie's Root Beer is just amazing.
i know that people, in general, are either big fans of root beer, or not at all. if you like root beer, then definitely try Rookie's. I think it is the best that i've had.
(full disclosure - dave and jenny, who make the root beer, are friends of mine. but to be honest, i kind of wanted to get to be friends with them because i loved their root beer so much. and they are super cool.)
