Now, the Hooters closing has still been under wraps. Does anyone have ANY idea why this place closed?

I heard a rumor (or maybe it was on the radio, I can't remember) that they couldn't afford the rent and were behind on taxes.

A couple issues:

1.  Violation of their franchise agreement
2.  Financial issues of owners (they stiffed more than a few people)

No loss, food was awful, place was filthy.  Maybe someone should open a seafood shack there.  A place with great shellfish (raw bar) and fried whole bellies, oysters, chowder, etc. would do well I think.  This area is so void of seafood.

A seafood restaurant would be a great idea. You can't really get oysters on the half shell at any place, I heard you can get them from Bluebird but my appetite is too large to eat there.

I don't eat seafood but I bet that would be a good idea for that location!

My boyfriend and I went to Arcadia diner for lunch today and saw some guys putting signs up at the former Hooters that read, "Vermont Sports Grill".

I have some new dish on the Vermont Sports Grill. Check it out in Seven Days on Wednesday. For now, I'll tell you that the owner is Todd Trono, the GM at Williston Golf Club, a former chef.

I have been to the Vermont Sports Grill and have to say they are doing well.  The staff is friendly and focused on making people enjoy their visit (unlike Hooters that seemed to relay on cleavage rather than consideration).  The menu is wide and well executed.  I had wings that were fresh, crispy, and well seasoned.  They have a variety of sauces that should appeal to everyone. The cup of chowder I had was decent although I think rosemary overwhelms seafood and would omit it's use.  The ribs were actually quite good with a sweet/tangy bbq sauce and meat that was cooked perfectly although they are not smoked (but don't claim to be).  If you are looking for a place to check out the game and have some pub food or even a prime rib, I would suggest giving them a try.  GO VIKINGS !
