I have always thought the Caribbean Buffet on North Winooski in Burlington looked interesting, but have never seen anyone eating there.  Have any of you experienced this restaurant/ have any idea how it stays open/ have ideas why no one is ever there?

I have lived in the area for 11 years and have always been curious about Caribbean Buffet, too. I have even gone in and attempted to eat before, but it gets unbearably hot in there, even when it isn't that hot out. Perhaps the owner is trying to conjure his homeland, but it is too uncomfortable to eat in there. Hope to try it sometime in the winter!

Tried Caribbean Buffet last night. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Jerk chicken was spicy and crisp as duck. The curried chicken was flavorful and paired magnificently with the strawberry/banana punch provided. Loved the yams and plantains. Though everything had clearly been sitting on the buffet a while, it all tasted fresh, even the collard greens, and there were no gastric repercussions.

My boyfriend repeatedly referred to the owner, Patrick as "cute" in his fussing over us. He taught us a lot about his unfamiliar cuisine. The place is decorated with really cool migration maps of the Caribbean. I am already planning a return visit soon.
