I live in Orange (east of Barre), but I travel to Waterbury for work, so I can go around lots of different places.  Thing is, I've tried for a couple of weeks now to find onion sets/starts/seedlings (whatever you call them) for my container garden and I'm not finding them anywhere.  I've gone to the farmer's market for two weeks, and I looked at Hunger Mountain Coop, and Legare's (on the Barre-Montpelier road).

Anyone have any good ideas where I could scare up some onions?

Hi Morganna - Nice to see you on the forum.

Although it's not on your route, I'm pretty sure you can get onion starts at Red Wagon Plants in Hinesburg. According to the website, they offer four varieties of onions, as well as scallions and leeks.

However, since it's out of the way, I'd recommend calling first. I'm not sure how quickly they sell out of things once planting starts in earnest.
