I am a huge (!!!) breakfast fan. I could honestly eat breakfast every meal of the day. However, I've gotten into a bit of a breakfast rut. I usually go to Penny Cluse, Mirabelles, or Magnolia's, but I know I'm missing other great breakfast places. Does anyone have any suggestions to get me out of my rut?

The Skinny Pancake is really good, I agree. I didn't know they served breakfast. I'll have to check it out!

My vote nearby is for Firebird Café in Essex. Sweet breakfasts include whole grain french toast with grilled bananas and — get this — croissant french toast. They give you two whole croissants, battered and fried.

The savory dishes are California-influenced. The huevos rancheros are a perfect mix of tangy and creamy. I'm especially partial to anything with the delicious pork carnitas. Every sauce is excellent.

They also happen to have the best hot chocolate I've ever had, made in the cappucino machine with semi-sweet chocolate chips.

If you're willing to go for a 40-minute drive, The Mix in Jeffersonville and Dutch Pancake Café in Stowe are musts, too.

Wow! Alice, the croissant french toast sounds absolutely sinful! I might have to con my housemate into going there now.

You should try out Chef's Corner in Williston. One of the owners is a pastry chef (and former NECI instructor), the other takes care of the savory side.

They always have a nice variety of dishes like quiche, omelettes and sandwiches; and on Sunday they do awesome eggs Benedict specials. Sometimes, in winter, they have tourtiere — a French-Canadian pork pie that is one of my favorite cold-weather dishes. And there's a really big case packed with pastries.

Oooh I've been thinking I'd like to poke around to find a new, nice place for a lunch before we go to a movie at the Majestic 10!  We'll check this out!

For lunch before heading the the Majestic, I recommend Sushido or Naru. Naru especially is super-fast. You can catch a movie in about half and hour!
