From the live-music hotbed of Austin, Tex., comes the raucous Fat Man & Little Boy: the Atomic Duo. As their name suggests, the pair presents something of a contrast in styles, mining the sonic aesthetic of classic Depression-era Americana brother duos, but infusing the idiom with the wry wit and sensibility of a modern age. The result is a boisterous music expressing a clear reverence for the past, but with an eye — albeit a skeptical one — toward the future. This week, they’ll make two Vermont appearances: Thursday at Burlington’s the Skinny Pancake, and Friday at Montpelier’s Charlie O’s.
