This multimedia show about Lake Champlain features stories, early images and traditional songs from New England, the Celtic British Isles and Canada.

All You Need is Lake

A number of big acts (ahem! Tony Bennett!) are rolling into B-town to help celebrate the discovery of Lake Champlain ... but not all of them put the focus on the lake. You know, the waves where Sam de Champlain skimmed his canoe all those years ago? Local music group Atlantic Crossing and the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum team up — not for the first time — to give this inland sea a little well-deserved love. The four-person band uses historical inspiration to craft original, acoustic instrumentals that tell the well-kept secrets of what Champlain described as the “large lake filled with beautiful islands.” The tale of a ship lost in a disastrous storm in the 1800s becomes “a song that almost brings you to tears,” opines LCMM Executive Director Art Cohn, who’s currently aboard the traveling Lois McClure. Onstage, Cohn joins the band’s members — Viveka Fox, Peter Macfarlane, Brian Perkins and Rick Klein — to present stories and rarely seen early lake images in a multimedia performance that really makes a splash.
