Making Daysies history, the Vermont Brewers Festival unseated perennial champs the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. Our guess? The voters were drunk. On tiny beers. Jokes aside, the bacchanalian beer bash by the lake is the longest-running outdoor brew fest in the East, and certainly deserves recognition. Celebrating its 16th anniversary this year, the Vermont Brewers Association pulled out all the stops and offered more breweries and high-octane “extreme” beers. And, accordingly, insanely long lines. Bonus: The souvenir sampling cups make for great juice glasses the following morning.
