What is there to say about David Byrne that hasn’t been said a thousand times before? Well, not much, really. The enigmatic former Talking Heads front man is among the most fascinating figures in the entirety of pop culture. A Grammy- and Oscar-winning pioneer of New Wave, his music — in particular his collaborations with sonic provocateur Brian Eno — is adored across generations. He’s as beloved by today’s crop of twentysomething hipsters as he is by their parents, who likely discovered him when they were twentysomething hipsters. Ironic, no? Byrne kicks off the 2009 Concerts on the Green series at the Shelburne Museum this Monday.
