There are good band names. And there are great band names. And then there is CunninLynguists, which may be the best name in music history. Or at least the funniest. However, the Kentucky-based hip-hop trio is more than just a clever moniker. It’s also among the more exciting and inventive groups to come along in quite some time, corralling a bizarre array of musical styles — think polka and psych-rock — into a raucous, at times raunchy and even thought-provoking blend of danceable beats and hyper-intelligent flow. Wednesday, December 9, they light up the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge with Grieves with Budo, Looptroop Rockers and Tunji.
