Thanks to Charlotte-based World music imprint Cumbancha and their ongoing concert series with legendary label Putumayo, we’re intimately connected with some of the brightest new talent the globe has to offer. The semi-monthly celebration continues with the US debut of “Zimbabwe’s New Voice,” Chiwoniso. The multi-talented up-and-comer is already a star in her native country, blending traditional African rhythms with more modern elements of funk and reggae.
