MEAN BEANS

There’s no shortage of hot java joints in Vermont, so it’s a grande honor to win in this category. And finally, Church Street staple Uncommon Grounds took back the crown from Muddy Waters, a Daysies standby for the past four years.

What does the UG have going for it? Lots. There’s an in-house roaster churning out fragrant beans from exotic lands, outdoor seating on Church Street, and lots of sweet treats to go with your cuppa. And the café employs extra-hip help. Changing local art on the walls is a bonus. Those who eschew the high test can find plenty of less caffeinated alternatives: Italian sodas in juicy flavors, spicy Chai, and a large selection of loose-leaf teas.
