There’s nothing so dubiously time-honored in the annals of rock history as the side project. While most such moonlighting is (rightly) met with skepticism, every now and then, offshoots wholly emerge from the shadow of their more popular parent outfits. Such is the case with Blues & Lasers, led by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals’ lead guitarist Scott Tournet. Trading in downright filthy, psychedelic blues-rock, the band — which includes fellow Nocturnals Bryan Dondero and Matt Burr, as well as Turkey Bouillon Mafia’s Benny Yurco — has won over GPN critics and admirers alike.
