Aching for some variety in your entertainment? The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus’ mix of vaudeville, cabaret, circus and burlesque acts should scratch the itch. The 14-year-old New York City-based troupe, founded by Stephanie Monseu and Keith Nelson, comes to the Queen City in a sophisticated adult performance that leaves “audiences howling in its wake and Samuel de Champlain squirming in his grave,” says event producer and performer Woody Keppel. Physical comedy duo Wells & Woodhead open this shebang with a mishmash of hat tricks, plate spinning and animal stunts characteristic of old-time vaudeville shtick, and Stick and Cedar Hokum offer an interlude of silly, satire-infused sounds. With the requisite anatomical-anomaly humor and juggling of everything from umbrellas to bird cages, this is a surefire escape from anything 1609.
