Seven Days: Vermont's Independent Voice

Rochester, Vt., is, in fact, a small town. But its ambitiously named BigTown Gallery doesn’t think small at all — as its current invitational exhibit demonstrates. From Vermont and the region, the eight highly accomplished artists are showing paintings, collages and prints. There is no intended theme, says gallery owner Anni Mackay — “They were just people who have come to my attention and I wanted to work with.” And yet, she notes, various connections among the works emerged serendipitously when they came together on the gallery walls. The Invitational Show is on view through May 23.
