Though perhaps best known as a sideman with the likes of Abigail Washburn’s Sparrow Quartet and bluesman Otis Taylor, Ben Sollee is an awfully talented solo artist in his own right. The virtuosic cellist imbues his music with a sprightly wit and melodic playfulness, not unlike another classically trained string player-cum-songwriter, Andrew Bird. This Thursday Sollee steps into the spotlight for a show at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge with the Adam Ezra Group and local Celtic-rock outfit Pale Fire.
