The Brooklyn native and longtime Burlington architect (1922-2010) was also known as an outdoorsman, dancer, traveler and artist. A collection of his sunny watercolors and pen-and-ink drawings, of nature and buildings, are on view at Ohavi Zedek Synagogue in Burlington through September 5. Sales of his work will benefit the organizations to which Stein was dedicated: the synagogue, ACLU-Vermont and the Green Mountain Club. The image depicts Mad River Glen’s single-chair lift during a “Green and Gold Weekend.”
