NYC’s Designer Drugs draw on the pervasive apathy of modern youth culture as one of their prime inspirations. Perhaps that explains the genre-defying bombast found on the duo’s debut release, Hardcore/Softcore, which aggressively mangles EDM, indie and pop conventions into near unrecognizable — yet crazily danceable — shapes and sounds. This Friday, January 25, the band headlines the next installment of the monthly Platinum series at Club Metronome in Burlington. Also on the bill are locals DJ Disco Phantom, Bonjour-Hi!, Mario and the 2K Deep crew.
