'2012: Women in the Arts'

The world is brimming with niche art museums, but amazingly, only one claims to be devoted exclusively to women’s contributions: the National Museum of Women in the Arts, in Washington, DC. To mark that institution’s 25th anniversary, the Chaffee Art Center and the Vermont Actors’ Repertory Theatre organized a month of events highlighting female talent here in Vermont. An exhibit at the Chaffee in Rutland features work by 11 artists through March 17. At an opening reception, on Friday, February 17, the Vermont Commission on Women’s Wendy Love and Billi Gosh speak, and the Unpredictables, a female a cappella group from Rutland High School, perform.
